Direct from Graceland: Elvis ★★★★ Arches London Bridge | Until September 1, 2024

Good news for fans of Elvis! The deadline for closing this exclusive exhibition has been extended and new pieces have been added. Direct from Graceland there are over 400 items on display, including Elvis' automobiles, his film posters and the famous gold lamé suit. The various galleries trace Elvis' life from its humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi, through to his emergence as the King of Rock and Roll. We have Elvis' school reports, his high school graduation diploma, the helmet he wore when he was inducted into the army and a number of the costumes he wore on stage. There is more than enough to satisfy any Elvis aficionado, and the recorded commentary highlights the most important pieces. For the superfan there is also the VIP White Glove experience which allows one to handle some of the pieces like Elvis’ Gold International Belt and the Gold Microphone used in Las Vegas in 1969. In June some special curator events will also be available, hosted by Angie Marchese, Graceland’s Vice President of Archives & Exhibits. We were fortunate enough to attend one of these, and Marchese's knowledge of her subject proved to be encyclopedic. For diehard fans this experience is as close as you can come to visiting the shrine at Graceland, and for those who may be less familiar with the music legend it is simply a fascinating look at both the star's life and how his legend is being preserved.
