Wonderville definitely lives up to its name. London's newest cabaret has a super lineup of acts that will be regularly changing. On the evening we attended the tone was set by Fay Presto who went through the crowd and did some lovely close-up magic. The show itself was hosted by both accordionist and singer, Desmond O'Connor, and the formidable and funny, Chastity Belt. We thoroughly enjoyed Chastity's sharp repartee and loved her rendition of The Clash's "London Calling." The atmosphere and antics were also complemented by some beguiling variety acts: Abi Collins' hula-hoop skills, Snookie Mono's sword-swallowing feats, and Tara Talland's acrobatic virtuosity. But, this was a night that was all about the magic. Billy Kidd brought a fresh attitude and some excellent legerdemain to the stage, and we loved the act of mentalist, Marc Oberon. The whole audience ended up collectively scratching their heads as he effortlessly read our minds and anticipated our thoughts. The final performance by magic troupe, The Matricks, brought down the house with its sensational old vanishing illusions that had some novel contemporary twists. Look no further for a great evening out on the town. We anticipate many more nights of wonder at this terrific new addition to the London entertainment scene.
