There's a difference between a fan and a super-fan. This is the show that could convert you from the former to the latter. Sarah-Louise Young does so much more than imitate her inspiration. She shares her love for the unique Kate Bush and brings the audience into her world of super-fandom. She does not seek to be the singer/song writer but, rather, channels her own and the audience's love for their idol. Most people will come for the music and Young's vocal stylings are superb, but there is also a lot of humour in the show. As with all true love affairs, Young is not afraid to poke a bit of fun at her idol, and she sees the funny side of her own infatuation. Frequently, performers who insist on involving the audience make us feel uncomfortable, but in this instance it worked. Young's inclusion of her listeners and the invitation for their involvement didn't create that awkwardness which frequently comes from such forced participation. This is the sincere sharing of a passion rather than a ploy, and it unites the room in a delightful, shared experience. Indeed, what makes the whole evening work is the palpable sincerity of Young's own fandom. She presents herself as being part of a caring community and she manages to create that same experience in her show. So, while Kate Bush might not be present in person, you are bound to be touched by the spirit. Don't be surprised if you end up becoming one of the "Fish People."
