SIX ★★★★★ Vaudeville Theatre | Until May 1, 2022

History class was never like this! SIX is a wonderfully original show full of absolutely amazing energy. Subversively slipped into the story, there's also some shrewd and insightful interpretation of the lives of these famous six women and their place in history. After seeing the show, one hesitates to talk about the wives of Henry VIII as if they only existed as part of a group or in relation to the king. These women were individuals and complex characters worthy of our attention in their own right. They also came to define the monarchy of the man they married. That point made, this is a theatrical experience that is just full of joy and fun. The six women who take on the roles manage to imbue each queen with a distinct personality and tell her story in a completely compelling manner. Jarneia Richard-Noel is terrific as a feisty Catherine of Aragon. We loved Courtney Bowman's rendition of "Don't Lose Ur Head." Natalie Paris as a somewhat bitchy Jane Seymour was great fun, and Alexia McIntosh just oozed self-contentment as Anne of Cleves. Sophie Isaacs as Katherine Howard did a super rendition of "All You Wanna Do" and Danielle Steers' Catherine Parr brought it home with "I Don't Need Your Love." Both the time and reigns flew by in this show that no one should miss. These are six queens of the stage who are making some theatrical history!
