Fiver, Southwark Playhouse - ★★★★ - July 3 to July 20, 2019

A fiver is not a life changing amount of money or is it? This charming little musical traces the travels of a fiver as it moves through the lives of a variety of people. The cast do a wonderful job at creating a wide variety of characters who are touched by this humble banknote. Luke Bayer, Dan Buckley, Aoife Clesham and Hiba Elchikhe move seamlessly from one individual story to another. Alex James Ellison and Tom Lees have created a show that has some great numbers with some extremely clever lyrics. "Press Hash to Rerecord" was a standout and "Whisper it to Me" was beautifully poignant. This is a production which suggests the future of the British musical is bright indeed.
