This amazing array of dance and movement artists is a simply delightful treat! The solo performances of the BBC Young Dancers were totally different but both excellent. Shree Savani, who is a bharatanatyam dancer, projected the power of the female as depicted in Hindu goddesses, whilst Max Revell was completely captivating in the work Unstrung which explored the limits of structure and freedom. The elegance and eroticism of the three tangos from Ezequiel Lopez and Camila Alegre were simply spellbinding. Their poise and personality were quite wonderful. The presentation by (LA)HORDE of their jump style work brought an amazing youthful and contemporary energy to the stage, while the excerpt from Living Archive by Company Wayne McGregor was a fascinating exploration of the artificially intelligent choreographic tool it has developed in collaboration with Google's Arts and Culture Lab. Géométrie Variable also took us into a world of abstraction with their unique work creating shapes and lines that find and explore connections. Then there was the humour and thrills of Canada's Machine de Cirque which had the audience alternately gasping and giggling. It was all breathtakingly good fun. In contrast, Botis Seva's BLKDOG by Far From The Norm was a harrowing emotional and intellectual challenge that was simply mesmerising. So like all good samplers, this one left us hungry for more!
