Eric Parry: Drawing, Sir John Soane's Museum - FREE - ★★★★ - Until May 27, 2019
This exhibition is another good reason to visit one of London's most interesting museums. The show makes innovative use of Soane's house with exhibits placed throughout the building. The use of the doors in the gallery to present photographs of two of Parry's buildings is particularly effective as they can also be viewed from the Monk's Parlour. And, don't miss the other 'intervention': a video about the creation of 4 Pancras Square. Outside these two 'interventions' the main sweep of the show traces Parry's drawing as it reflects on character, effect, movement, listening and surveying. It is this work that informs and culminates in the design and building projects that are so impressive. All in all, a fascinating look at how drawing is at the heart of Parry's creative process and results in some iconic buildings.
